If I’ve said it once, I’ll say it a thousand times: I absolutely hate art house (with some exceptions: see Why Blow Up (1966) is the Only Art House Film Worth Seeing and Irreversible Might Be the Most Misunderstood Film of All Time).
So in case you don’t know, there’s a huge brouhaha over comments that James Cameron made about Wonder Woman. You can read the article here at the Guardian, but in summary, he pretty much called out Hollywood for virtue signaling the movie as some kind of revolutionary, new groundbreaking step forward in the depiction of “strong female characters,” when it was anything but.
I never thought in a million years I’d be writing this. The reason why is that even though I’m not a hardcore Star Wars fan and enjoyed the prequels for what they were (visual eye candy), I understand why there’s been so much animosity towards George Lucas by fanboys.
